The Board of Directors of the SNU Alumni Association is the legislative body of the Association and the primary organizational vehicle through which volunteer service and activities are planned on behalf of the Association. The Board serves the alumni constituency and the University through the Office of Alumni Relations in planning activities, granting awards, conducting elections and guiding other operations of the Association in order to fulfill the Association’s purpose.

Outstanding Alumni Award Descriptions

  • Public Officials (politics, governmental leaders, elected officials) – A recipient must be a BPC/BNC/SNU graduate or former student that has had exemplary service or achievements in leadership of our communities, states or nation while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ.  Recommendations may be made based on recent distinguished achievement or that rendered over a period of time. The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.  Nominees may be repeat recipients.
  • Public Service (law enforcement, teachers, healthcare, emergency, volunteer work, etc) – A recipient must be a BPC/BNC/SNU graduate or former student that has had exemplary service or achievements in the public service sector, while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ.  Recommendations may be made based on recent distinguished achievement or that rendered over a period of time. The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.  Nominees may be repeat recipients.
  • Faith-Based Service (church leadership, Christian organizations, missionaries, lay leadership, faith-based groups, etc) – A recipient must be a BPC/BNC/SNU graduate or former student that has had exemplary service or achievements in faith-based service, while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ.  Recommendations may be made based on recent distinguished achievement or that rendered over a period of time. The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.  Nominees may be repeat recipients.
  • Military Service (active, retired, reserves) – A recipient must be a BPC/BNC/SNU graduate or former student that has had exemplary service or achievements in the armed services, while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ.  Recommendations may be made based on recent distinguished achievement or that rendered over a period of time. The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.  Nominees may be repeat recipients.
  • Outstanding Achievement Award (career/professional/personal achievement) – A recipient must be a BPC/BNC/SNU graduate or former student, and a person who has had significant achievement as recognized by his or her profession, community or church, while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ. Recommendations may be made based on recent distinguished achievement or that rendered over a period of time. The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.  Nominees may be repeat recipients.
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 – Outstanding Young Alumni Award (SNU graduates/students 10 years or less) – A recipient must be a SNU graduate or former student of 10 years or less, and a person who has had significant achievement or service as recognized by his or her profession, community, or church, while modeling the values of Character, Culture, Christ.  The nominee must have evidenced continuing interest in SNU in such a manner as to merit receipt of the award.
  • Heritage Award – Heritage Award recipients shall meet the above General Criteria with the following explanation and exception:  The Heritage Award is the highest award bestowed by the SNU Alumni Association based on evidence of personal dedication, service, reflection of Christian ideals, and extended contributions of the SNU Community.   Membership in the SNU Alumni Association is not a prerequisite for consideration of nominees.  Recipients may not receive the award more than once.  This award is reserved for persons with a minimum of 25 years of accrued service.
